Deans Rag Book Puck 1912
This is a very rare doll by Deans Rag Book made at their Elephant & Castle factory in 1912. He can be identified as the earliest example by his cork stuffing as later ones were stuffed with kapok. There is some interesting information about this doll in Neil Millers book on Deans on page 72  stating that in 1912 Deans traditionally produced rag dolls with flat faces and printed features. Mr Puck has a seam down the centre of his face and a nose shape sewn in – possibly the first time this was attempted.Mr Puck is 18″ tall and in excellent condition for a rag doll 105 years old. There is one small stitched repair to the back of his left leg that is not very noticeable. His printed features are still vibrant especially the 2 little rabbits on his chest that look like Peter Rabbits. He has the Deans logo on his left foot and the hygiene notice on his right foot that are both still vibrant. Very slight overall soiling that you would expect from a rag doll of this age.A great addition to any Deans collection. Thanks for looking.
