Here’s an interesting, early German cloth-bodied ted c.1920s, produced as a dressed bear, but no longer wearing his original clothes. Called Alfie, he’s woodwool-stuffed, and has a swivel head with floppy sewn limbs, and measures 40 cms (16″) long. Alfie’s close-set eyes are back-painted glass, worn mostly clear, while his nose stitching is sewn at an angle, and might be a replacement. His felt pads have a few repairs and some dark staining, and there’s a shoulder darn to the back of his brushed cotton body. Alfie has plenty of blonde mohair, with just a small bald patch to the top of his head, where it’s a little threadbare. Overall, though, he’s a good sturdy bear, with a rather anxious expression! Thanks for looking.
