This is Oscar, A beautiful looking, larger sized old lion by Steiff dating I think to the 1950s. He is 10″ tall by 16″ long, not including his tail, with glass eyes and a beautifully stitched pink nose with black stitched outline and mouth. Although he has lost his button he is definitely a Steiff lion. Sadly he has a large split halfway down the front of his tail, see pics, but this could be mended with some carefull needlework. In every other respect he is rather magnificent, especially his shaggy, dual tipped mohair mane and majestic face. He has lots of character, is clean and fresh smelling, and would make a lovely addition to any old bear collection.
