2 x Early Bears Antique – Must Stay Together Sidney & FreddieI willstart with Sidney which I believe to be some sort of early stick bearthough his face doesn’t look like the typical American stick bear, itlooks better. I would date him c 1920’s.Sidneyis c 11 inches tall and practically bald all over (he has some shortmohair here and there) and his pads and ears look like they have beenreplaced as has his nose and mouth probably to cover the wear andtear to his muzzle (you can see darned repairs around his nose). Allthese repairs look quite old. Hefeels like he is stuffed with wood wool throughout (sounds crunchywhen squeezed). All his five joints turn fine. He has his originalglass eyes and you can see the tie off stitch at the back of thehead. He has quite a hump at the top of his back. He cant stand onhis own.Feelinghis body it feels like there is something inside him, but not on thefront. It feels like a push or bellow squeaker under his arms, so ifyou gently push under both arms his back slightly bulges out!? Whatever it was supposed to do it doesn’t make any noise now! You cansee the white stitches on his paw pads and front body seam, front legseams and back of arms where he has had previous surgery :0(! Ican just see some remains of some black sewn claws on his right footso presuming he had claws on each paw in the past.Sydneyand Freddie always look like they are getting up to mischief withtheir humerus look and cheeky smiles :)Nowonto little Freddie .Freddie’sarms and legs are rod jointed. This type of bear was made cheaplyduring and after the war. I think his fur is made of cotton plush. He isc 5.5 inches tall and like Sidney he cant stand on his own. Freddiehas the cutest smile and lopsided eyes which gives him a veryappealing look. As you can see he has lost his ears, maybe a littlecrochet hat would hide that, but I think he looks fine just the wayhe is :)Thesetwo friends came with George currently for sale in a separate auction. The last photo shows them all together :)I wastold by the previous owner that all three bears were in her familyfrom new.Thesetwo must stay together as they have been friends for many years :)
