Toffee ~ Old English? Terrier Dog ~ Antique Teddy Bear Pal & 1917 Coin on collar
This is Toffee! He’s an old mystery who’s in lovely condition. I’m hoping there’s someone out there who will think he’s as cute and beautiful as I do! I’m not sure how to date him but I think he’s pretty early. He stands just under 9 inches tall and is firmly stuffed with woodwool. He appears in all original condition; glass eyes, formed nose and stitched mouth. Toffee has two tones of mohair; white and caramel and has really big front feet! What I find interesting about Toffee is he has a lovely collar with a metal button securing it, and attached to the front is an old coin; 5 Canadian Cents dated 1917! The question is, was this originally on Toffee or added at some point as the coin had a special meaning to his previous owner? I love a bit of provenance and this little coin is part of Toffee’s history which I hope will stay him, and maybe bring good luck to his new fur-ever friend?The photographs form part of the description so please look at them carefully.
