THE MOST ADORABLE LITTLE 1920S
ANTIQUE TERRIER DOG WITH ORIGINAL COLLAR
This adorable little antique terrier dog does not have a makers label, and I cannot identify him with any certainty. He bears a passing resemblance to Steiff’s early Molly dogs. I think that he is either German or British made, and probably dates from around 1920.
He measures approximately 7 inches in height (in begging position).
He is made of brown and white mohair, which is somewhat sparse, retaining approximately % coverage.
His mohair has age related wear and light fading but he is a very clean little dog with no musty or unpleasant odours.
He is filled entirely with wood wool which is still firmly and evenly distributed. He has a large reed and bellows type growler located in his body.
He is disc jointed at head/neck, and has wire armatures in all four legs which gives them movement . . . he can sit, lie down and also beg. Although he is 100 years old, his little legs still move quite easily, and have not yet turned is still very well balanced and sits, lies down and begs without needing any form of support (provided that due care is taken when initially positioning him in ‘begging’ pose).
He retains his original stitched in painted back glass eyes (about 50% of the paint still remains). He retains all his original black stitched nose and muzzle . . . his nose stitching is vertical with long downwards end stitches.He is not perfect, but he has no serious damage or faults. His mohair is sparse, but he is 100 years old . . . he has the odd light surface rub and scuff, and general overall playwear commensurate with age, but he is basically in good sound condition.He is wearing his original little antique leather dog collar which is in very good condition.Please take the time to look through the listing photos before bidding, as they show his condition clearly and accurately and form an important part of the description.HE IS THE MOST ADORABLE LITTLE DOG WITH A GREAT DEAL OF CHARM.
