This lovely Felix The Cat is such a character with his comical glass googly eyes and wide toothy grin.Several firms made Felix in the 1920’s, but this one was almost certainly made by Farnell.He is made from black mohair with a white mohair muzzle, black felt ears, white & black glass eyes, embroidered teeth, boot button nose, and filament whiskers.He measures approx 11 inches (excluding ears)Felix is straw filled throughout and is jointed at the neck, allowing his head to turn. He has wire armatures in the limbs and tail to enable him to be posed in different positions and the tail acts as a support for him to stand unaided.He is in very good condition for his age. Black mohair tends to be weaker and is prone to fading to a brownish colour, but this lovely cat has a nice strong jet black fur with no fading.There is some balding along the shaft of his tail, and on one wrist area, but as the backing material is the same colour, this hardly notices. There is also a little bit of straw exposed on the end of his tail, but apart from this he is in super shape. and sure to delight for many years to come.
