Meet Snout and Wilf! Great bears needing some minor TLC, they come with their retro camera and old baccy tin with coins….make a nice little museum style display

These old teds have been together a while, and I’ve just moved so have decided to downsize a bit, I’d like them to stay together if possible hence for sale together.

Snout, the larger bear, has mismatched glass (I think) eyes with what look like painted backs, he’s also got a lot of saggy-ness to his stuffing in the tops of his arms and legs, this stuffing I think is kapok as it’s soft. He has an amazing charm though with a very unusual face, rexine paw pads in very good condition, overall good mohair coverage and in his back there is an indentation where his tilt growler is – this still works very loudly most of the time! He’s approx. 19″ tall.

Wilf is smaller, approx. 15″ tall, and has long since lost his eyes. There is evidence of where they were glued in, which was common practice, and they would have been glass on wire shanks. He’s had some damage to a paw pad crudely repaired, and there’s a definite protrusion in his chest where his squeaker is, but this doesn’t work unfortunately. He has felt pads, and there is evidence of the stitched outline of a long lost label on one foot pad. He’s hard stuffed with wood wool, and has fairly good mohair. Of the two of them, he is the one that could do with a good clean.

There is no way of knowing either bear’s maker as there are no labels, although the shape of the missing outline on Wilf’s foot points to a manufacturer like Ealon Toy Company, an early English maker.
