Offered in this listing is a beautiful German Barenmarke teddy bear from the 1960’s. He is a hard to come by vintage mascot for the German dairy brand Barenmarke and was produced in the early 1960’s, apparently on commission, by Steiff.
Barenmarke are an internationally recognized dairy brand from Germany who have been operating since 1912. They are known for their diverse product range, sweet 1950’s/1960’s television adverts and merchandising.
This baby bear would make a beautiful addition to any nursery or just as a sweet cuddly gift just for you!

Materials: The bear is crafted from cinnamon brown Dralon plush. He is firmly stuffed with synthetic stuffing most likely kapok. He is unjointed but has wire musculature/armature. His eyes are dark brown plastic and his nose shiny black plastic. He has a red felt tongue. It feels like his face has an internal plastic moulding for form.

Condition: Overall very good vintage condition. His Dralon plush is high quality and shows no signs of matting or thinning other than a minor amount to the tip of the right hand. All seams are firmly intact and his stuffing is firm for his age. His colour is very good with no obvious discolouration other than some minor spotting on his tongue. His only real downside is that his identifying label has frayed so it was hard to identify him – it was Magnus’s knowledge of the German language that helped us discover his delightful back story. An example of the Barenmarke logo intact on a bear can be found in photograph 5. This seam label is apparently the indication that this bear was indeed made by Steiff – normally Steiff bears have an ear button but we can only speculate that Barenmarke likely requested that this was not installed as not to confuse the brands. We endeavour to be as thorough as possible with our descriptions but please take advantage of the zoom function in the listing photographs. He has had a careful and thorough clean and brush up.

Dimensions: Approximately 9″ (23 cm) from the back of his heel to the top of his head and 7″ (18 cm) across from hand to hand. He would make a great “Baby Bear” in a hug of larger bears.
