Here’s a super cute, larger-sized original Steiff Teddy Baby, with the more rare closed mouth. He stands 36 cms (14″) tall on card-lined feet, and has original features, including earbutton c.1929-32. Stuffed with wood-wool and fully-jointed, his arms are shaped with playful down-turned paws, and he has a long shaved, inset muzzle, now mostly bald, bless.

One of Baby’s back-painted glass eyes shows a little loss of enamel, and all his felt pads have patched repairs, especially his feet. His claws are still intact, apart from one, and his embroidered mouth is exaggerated into a wide grin, by way of airbrushing, which is faded but still visible.

Originally maize-coloured, Baby’s mohair has turned almost white over the years, and although he’s quite bald in some areas, he still has plenty of fur. His humped back and backs of legs have good coverage. I forgot to take a rear view, but will do so if anyone wants to see a pic.

Overall, Baby is a lovely sturdy bear, with the most adorable face. He’s wearing a pair of vintage silky cream shorts, and a teddy bear neck ribbon. Thanks for looking.
