Here’s a wonderful Puss in Boots fairytale character, with working musical bellows c.1930s. Puss is unjointed and measures 48 cms (19″) tall. His outfit isn’t original, except for his felt boots which are attached to him, but nevertheless he looks very dashing in his antique cotton broderie shirt and wool pants, plus homemade feather hat. Puss is stuffed with woodwool and kapok, and has original large back-painted green glass eyes, now rather glazed. His features are embroidered in red wool, and his nose is missing a few threads, while his mouth has been re-secured. Some of his whiskers are intact, along with his long tail.
There’s a red felt heart sewn to his chest where his musical movement had pushed through his fabric through being squeezed. He plays a lovely loud tune, when his tummy is pressed. Puss also has felt-lined ears and, although quite bald, some long curly grey mohair. Overall, he’s a marvellous and fairly rare character. Thanks for looking.
