Steiff (Germany) rare Katzenjammer Kids Mother-in-law novelty felt tea/coffee cosy, the felt face with black stitched jowl, white felt eyes with black buttons, painted mouth, swivel head to body with jointed arms and large hands, wearing a red and black spotted top and green skirt with white apron, 43cm high, produced between 1904 – 1934, See Pfeiffer, Steiff Sortiment 1892 – 1943, p.534
This is a charming and rare novelty Steiff item in fair to good condition considering it is probably 90+ years old, I have had it as part of my collection for some years now as I purchased it from an antique dealer in Holland originally. It comes with its original Steiff button in ear, unfortunately it does have some wear with some slight discolouration and splits in some places however this does add a certain naivety to its charm. These novelty items by Steiff are becoming very scarce to source so grab a rare item whilst you can!
