This is such an extraordinary, and I think rare antique toy Macaw parrot.
He probably dates from the 1920’s/30’s and is very well made, although I have not found any obvious clues to his manufacturer.
I do not think he is by Steiff, unless he was a sample, or special order, but he is certainly by a reputable toy maker as is so well made, and from good quality materials.
You will see that he is made from several shades of vivid blues and also, cream and grey felt, and his body is made from bright blue and yellow mohair, with these colours remaining vibrant, though slightly sunlight faded in places.
The adorable, comical toy parrot is filled with wood-wool and has wired claws and tail, so he can be posed (as shown in a few of the images)He still has what appear to be his original white/yellow/black beady glass eyes.
I consider his condition to be good – especially for such an old toy, but he is not without flaws, so please take time to view all of the images as these will be the most helpful part of the item description/condition report, and please read my written condition report too as this will highlight any obvious faults which I have noticed.
