Old Vintage Growler Teddy Bear. Vintage Dean’s Teddy Bear.Peter is a characterful 19 inch, vintage English Dean’s teddy bear. He was probably born in the 1950s or very early 60s and he proudly bears his “ChildsPlay” label on his back.Peter has a working growler set inside him towards his back, it is an old card tilt growler. He also has some unusual ears, which when you move them , will crackle. I’m not sure what this is but it does set him apart from other bears I have owned. He is filled with kapok and straw , the straw being around his growler and in his snout. His mohair plush coverage is fairly good to good with some patches overall and balding at the seams, especially on his sides.Peters features include glass eyes, and a stitched nose and mouth. His nose is a little bit crooked, giving him even more character ! He is fully jointed with good joint connections at his arms and legs, but his head is stiffly attached. He retains his original paw pads , which look to be velvet, and in good condition. Also, rather typical of a Dean’s bear, he has chunky shoulders, and scooped arms. Peter has had numerous repairs over his years, by some caring parent no doubt, including to his left leg, where there was a small hole (about a centimetre) and a seam repair to his left front arm, and left front leg.All in all Peter holds himself together well, like any old English gent….Peter does show signs of age and is love worn. He is not intended to be used as a toy as he does not have the safety features associated with modern teddy bears.
