Comic little elelphant soft toy dating to circa 1930.
Possibly made by Deans Rag Book or Farnell?
This auction is for the comical elephant soft toy as shown in the photos.
He is unjointed, stands at 9″ tall and is made from a soft cotton fabric with
grey felt ears and amber and black glass eyes and is completely stuffed
with wood wool. He is a real character but has been loved and at some
point in his life, he has had his arms rather crudely replaced by a
previous owner but although he is a bit grubby, there are no other
damages or holes to his fabric body or head.
He has amber and black glass eyes and has printed markings on his
feet and trunk and although I can’t see any markings, the type of soft
cotton fabric used to make him is the same as that used by Deans
Rag Book in some of their 1920’s-30’s soft toys such as ‘Dismal Desmond’
or ‘Tatters’ the hospital pup. Regardless of who made him, he is a
charming and comical soft toy and would make a great addition
to any collection of soft toys or companion to your hug.
