This intrepid bear scout is an adorable Chiltern Hugmee teddy c.1950s. He stands 59 cms (23″) tall on card-lined feet, and is mostly original except for an old re-stitched nose. Stuffed with kapok (head woodwool), he has amber locked-in eyes for safety, and an embroidered mouth that’s mostly covered by his fur.

Scout’s pads are made of velvet, and he has a full set of claws, though some have been restored in the past. All his joints work fine, but his squeaker has packed up. In wonderful condition having kept most of his honey-blonde mohair, Scout is a typical flat-faced post-war Chiltern, with his signature deadpan expression, short chubby legs, and curved paws.

This cute, cuddly character is wearing his vintage British boy scout’s beret with metal fleur de lis badge, plus a genuine scout’s neckerchief with six embroidered badges. He also wears a leather scout’s cross round his neck, and leather wrist-bands. ‘Be prepared’ is the scout’s motto!  Thanks for looking xx
