Huge and very rare antique Einco? soft toy rabbit with mohair bag. Circa 1910-20.
Possibly a one off shop display item. 32″ tall not including his ears.
This rare soft toy rabbit stands at a whopping 32″ tall not including his ears which add an additional 8″ to his height and dates back to the 1910’s or 20’s and was possibly made by Einco as a shop display item. He has a velvet body with mohair headand legs with jointed arms and is stuffed with wood wool which has broken down around his neck so his head slumps down a little.
He also carries a wood wool stuffed shoulder bag which is made from mohair on the one side and velvet on the other.
I cannot find anything similar but the distinctive mouth stitching and googly glass eyes lead me to believe this is an Einco toy.
He is in generally good sturdy condition with some playwear as you might expect but very little loss to the mohair and although the velvet has faded from a deep blue to an orange/brown/blue colour with some light marks as shown in the photos there are no tears or repairs apart from on the tip of one of his ears, the top of his bag and some newer stitches around his neck seam. His foot pads are carded and he does stand but not unaided and he needs to leans against something in order to stay upright. He really is a fabulous toy with lots of charm and character and would make a fantastic addition to any early soft toy collection.
Please view all the photos to assess the condition for yourselves and I am happy to answer any of your questions
Rabbit is being offered with a very low starting price and no reserve to the highest bidder.
My apologies for the high postage costs both domestically and internationally but I am restricted by which services
I can use because he is so large and heavy. I only charge the actual costs and make no money from postage.
