Harry: Rare Very Early Petz “Peanut” Bear c1905- Little Old Antique German Teddy
Harry is an adorable little German teddy bear probably made by Petz Co. around 1905.He’s only 21cm tall and is stuffed with woodwool.As he’s a very early bear, he has no pads and is made in the “Peanut” style – no neck joint, pin jointed arms and legs, and a very straight back.He is similar in shape to the very earliest Bing bears, but his ears are sliced-in rather than being sewn on to the bear (as Bing did).He has a pronounced muzzle, with original nose and mouth stitching, and tiny, painted boot button eyes.He has a centre seam running down the front of his head and with his little ears sticking out, he looks crazy cute!His short, blonde mohair is typical of very early bears and he has retained pretty much all of it – he’s really in remarkably good condition other than his squeaker not working.When I bought him I thought his eyes were probably replacements but now I’m not so sure, but I do think that some of his claws and nose stitching may not be original.All in all; Harry is a very old little bear, in great clean original condition and super cute.All offers considered and I always combine postage costs where applicable.
