Meet Ha’penny, a dear little old early Schuco Piccolo bear dating to the 1920s or possibly earlier. He is the tiniest size at just 2.5″ tall, with tiny metal eyes, horizontally stitched nose and a hard metal body. He retains both of his original felt paws and one of his felt feet, his left foot bring missing and exposing the tiny metal “bone” underneath. His once white mohair is exceptionally sparse with less than 50% remaining. However, this gives him a rather attractive dual colouring, a bit like a tabby cat. He has that beautiful, appealing facial expression that only the earlier Schuco miniatures seem to have, very soulful and expressive. All of his limbs and his head move, again, unusual for these very early examples. He is very robust for his age, is clean and fresh smelling, displays beautifully, and he would make a lovely addition to any old bear collection.
