Vintage hauck wicker pram. Fabulous and weird thing. I have never been quite sure if its for a rocking baby or a doll, its certainly big enough to hold a baby. Measuring in at 42 long, its 25 tall (37 to the top of the handle) and 18 wide, but not sure about its health and safety credentials. Guessing it dates from the late 1940’s or 1950s (they were founded in 1927). It has leather strap suspension, a metal chassis and wicker body, with crazy wheel guards and fenders (I say fenders because it looks straight out of Pee Wee Herman). I procured this for a film at a great expense, whilst I remain in love with it I really just need the space. I cant find out much more about it, I have seen photos of similar but nothing the same, its a magnificent beast if somewhat showing its age. I have been told it was seen in a film with Brook Shields, but not sure if its this exact one. There are some tears in the lining, the leather straps are a bit worn and the paintwork is worn but not sure any of that really matters, its a period piece which could be used as it is or restored.
I will be sorry to see this baby go, but its crying out for a new home with someone who can make use or bring out the best in it. This appears so damn rare I just dont know how to work out a price, but I know what I paid. I can’t let it go for a car boot price, so I am starting way under what I paid and with no reserve. It will be collection only.
