Uncle Joe: Lovely Old Antique Teddy
Uncle Joe is a saggy old teddy bear, probably made in France around 1930-40.He’s an adorable large teddy and stands around 64cm/25inches, with a chubby body, short arms with slightly curved wrists, and big chunky feet.His large cupped ears are set on corner of his head, and are stitched on. He’s got beautiful little clear glass eyes with painted backs.Uncle Joe as lost some patches of mohair over the past 75 or so years (mostly on his legs and back) but he’s still got the vast majority left, and is really fluffy. He’s also managed to hang on to all of his mouth, distinctive vertically-stitched nose with elongated edges, and some of his paw & feet claw stitching.Like his stitching and eyes, Joe has also managed to keep his original rexine pads and they’re all in good condition apart from one area with has become unstitched on his left hand, and generally having age-related cracks. He’s totally soft stuffed with (possibly with kapok) except for his head which is filled with woodwool.Joe has obviously been loved over the years and he’s begun to go saggy (particularly around his neck), which has also made his joints become loose.All in all Joe’s a large bear with lots of expression, who’s looking for a new home in time for Christmas. With a little TLC from a loving owner, he would look fantastic. He’s pictured sat in front of our Christmas tree, along with several of his teddy buddies, all of whom are available to purchase separately in my other listings.
