“Big Ted”German teddy bear possibly made by Strunz 1918With provenance.Measuring a whopping 36” and was perhaps a window display.Bought in 1918 by Captain George Frederick Jenkinson ( who was serving in the British army at the time)and was taken back to England for his beautiful young daughter Lydia Rose.Big Ted remained in the same family until was bought by myself.There is an account of teds story,along with his restoration and two original photographs of Big Ted in 1924 with Lydia.The account includes the charming story of when Lydia was frightened by thunder,she would run and sit on Big teds legs and this is why they are so worn…Five way jointed and all joints are turning and are firm.Filled with wood wool he has a large clonking non working growler.Eyes are possibly old replacements,it is hard to decide..Mohair is generally very good in most areas apart from the front and inner of his legs where they are significantly worn.Mouth and nose stitching may have been replaced or partially replaced.Most claw stitching intact.Lovely long arms with a hump.Huge carded feet with some restoration to the felt but mostly original with a few small holes.”Big ted would love to find his forever home and would make the most fantastic bear,or human companion!He has such a wonderful presence and is utterly charming.Will arrive with his story which will hopefully stay close to him forever.From smoke free home.Please note due to size and weight I can only post to the U.K.Please do not hesitate to message me with any required information.Any questions please ask..
