BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE 1938 – 1939
MERRYTHOUGHT PANDA BEAR 12″
This delightful antique panda bear made by Merrythought Hygenic Toys, England, no longer has his makers label. He dates from 1938 – 1939 and measures approximately 12 inches in height.
He is made of black and white mohair and is 3 way jointed (head and arms) with all joints in very good firm condition. His mohair is clean and soft and retains approximately 98% coverage, with the missing 2% being located on the back of head (right side) close to his neck joint. All four (original) velveteen paw pads are complete, intact and undamaged. He has original (stitched in) painted. His head, body and legs are woodwool filled, whilst his arms are kapok filled. His stuffing is very firm and evenly distributed. He has (stitched in) painted back glass eyes, and original black horizontally stitched nose and muzzle. He has no serious faults or issues and is very clean with no musty or unpleasant odours. He has light general overall playwear, none of which merits indidual note and is a gorgeous panda in very good condition.
He is wearing an antique navy blue French silk neck ribbon and a silver embossed bell that I have made for him.
