Beau is a delightful old straw filled English, or possibly American, jointed bear, dating to the 1920s or early 30s. He is an impressive 24″ tall with glass eyes and a stitched nose and mouth.
At first glance he sees to be in very good condition with his excelkent coverage of short bristle mohair, but if you look at my photos it appears that he has had a major accident at some point in he past (a dog attack maybe?) which has led his owner previous to me to cut away a substantial portion if his mohair on both legs, leaving the straw exposed underneath. However, his fancy stockingette “pop socks” do a great job of keeping everything in place and hiding his injuries. He also needs his paw pads replacing, and a repair to his left ear.
Ideally he needs to be rehomed with somebody who can tackle rebuilding his legs. But on the other hand, he has lived quite happily with his stuffing safely contained by his stockings, which actually make him look quite fetching!! He is also clean and sweet smelling.
He is a gorgeous old bear and deserves a loving home, whether he is restored to his former glory or simply kept in his present condition. That lovely face!! He would make a fine addition to any old bear collection.
