ANTIQUE EARLY 19″ ENGLISH STRAW-FILLED MOHAIR TEDDY BEAR c.1910This lovely early mohair teddy bear is fully jointed. He has glass eyes and a prominent snout with a black stitched nose and mouth. He also has black stitched feet claws (although some of the claw stitching is missing). There are no maker’s marks or labels, but we believe him to be an English bear. He rattles – this is probably because he has a growler inside, although this is no longer working. He has original rexine feet pads, and fabric hand pads that are covering the original pads (we do not know what sort of condition the pads are in underneath). He is wearing a bandana around his neck, but we do not believe this to be original to the bear. He is straw-filled, and dates from approx. 1910. Condition: Overall in good condition for his age, but with some playwear consistent with age and use. The mohair fur is overall worn with significant bald patches. The rexine feet pads are worn and holed. Some of the black claw stitching on the feet is missing. His snout has some wear and some fraying and significant holing on each side. There are some signs of old repair and re-stitching (to the back seam and the top of the left leg). Overall he is slightly faded and a bit dusty. His neck tie has some moth-holing.The approx. measurements are as follows:48cm high. (Ref. #7369)
