This little WWI Farnell Soldier Bear is in superb condition. He is 3.5 inches tall approximately, with original little green glass eyes and pipe cleaner ears. His joints still move freely and he has lovely thick blonde mohair.
These little soldier bears were said to have often been given to loved ones going off to serve in WWI. Their little eyes are set near the top of their heads so that they were able to sit in a top pocket with their eyes facing upwards. They brought comfort to many soldiers serving under terrible conditions. Some survived and came back with their owners, some survived where their owners sadly did not. I don’t know any history on this WWI Soldier Bear but he has been well looked after and is in wonderful condition – he is after all over one hundred years old.
Soldier Bear comes with his ribbon, but other accessories in photos, i.e. the leather trunk and flag, are not included in this auction.
