ANTIQUE VERY LARGE 42″ (CHILD SIZE) STANDING RABBIT POSSIBLY FARNELL PIP SQUEAK WILFRED SHOP DISPLAYHere we have a very rare super size Rabbit standing just over 42″ tall (child size) with long wire framed ears with velvet lining and matching velvet hand paws, card lined feet and “dungarees” forming part of his body. He has clear glass eyes and pink stitched nose/mouth, disc jointed neck (note there are a couple of old stitches here) and his body appears to be wire framed in some way which makes him stand upright. He is so big that he may well have been a toy department store display item from the 1930s or 40s, possibly for Pip Squeak and Wilfred, with smaller versions being available to purchase. Whatever his original purpose, he must be quite a rare item in this display size. Due to his age he does have some wear commensurate with such an item – the velvet, which was bright red originally, is faded and worn (hole to back of dungarees where the straw shows though – see photo), the “wire frame” is peeping through on his hand paws and edge of ear (see photo), his fur (probably white originally) is grubby with general wear and a few old stitches. In “the flesh” so to speak, despite his faults, he really is quite something and not to be missed if you are looking for something out of the ordinary and unusual for your antique teddy bear display. I love him and he has been displayed here for many years but I now need the space!
