Antique Teddy Bear
This bear was purchased at an auction house some time ago. It was sold as a ‘Steiff’ bear, however I can not be 100% sure.
Research has confirmed to me that he is old but to be honest, confused me in regards to the manufacturer.
Facts:
Hump: He has a large protruding hump between the shoulder blades.
Limbs: Arms, legs and feet are all exaggerated. The legs have broad hips with large feet. Paws are curving upwards.
Nose: Long snout like nose with black hand stitched detailing
Joints: 5 joints with wooden discs. No metal rods.
Stuffing: Wood wool (can be seen from missing ears.)
Fabric: Mohair (very thin)
Pads: Felt
Seam: Machine sewn with a 6 inch hand stitched seam on his back.
Condition:
As you can from the images, he is sadly missing his ears.
Mohair is very thin.
Construction is solid. All joints are in good condition.
