Bertie is an Antique Steiff Bear dating from around 1908, woodwool filled, he has his original boot button eyes and his Steiff Ff button in his ear, he is approximately 16″ tall and of slim build, his mohair is a bit sparse in places with one or two bald areas but not too bad considering his age. His 4 pads have all been replaced sometime in his life and he has some stitching and mends around his pointed snout, the nose has been restitched, he has the typical Steiff long arms and legs and a pronounced hump back. Bertie wears a neck bell and his sailor collar and hat which I made for him some years ago. He is pictured with a Steiff bear postcard lookalike from the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh and a wooden callendar this is just a prop and is Not included in the sale. Bertie tells me he’s ready for new adventures because he’s fed up of sitting in my cabinet, maybe a voyage to add some excitement to his life!!
All in all a nice Antique Steiff Bear and for his age (110) years I would say he’s in good condition. Bertie was originally purchased from “The Old Bear Company”
