Adorable rare antique German Steiff Bulldog (5228,7), dating from c. 1906,
made of brown burlap plush and white mohair,
hard stuffed with excelsior throughout the limbs and head, softer stuffing in body,
fully jointed,
has got large original boot-button eyes,vertical nose stitching with nostrils, inverted Y shape mouth stitching,wears original leather muzzle,
ears lined with felt with some old repairs and replacement?,original three claws stitching with one claw loose,large inoperative cardboard squeaker in a tummy,final seam runs through the front,
button missing.
Bulldog is approx. 15 1/2″ (39,5 cm) long.
Condition – item is in good antique condition with some general wear, thinning and balding patches to the mohair, few threadbare spots to the burlap plush; joints are fine, leather displays general wear.
