An English Farnell Soldier Teddy Bear dating to around 1914 era, well over a hundred years old. Little Soldier Ted is in fine condition still with plenty of his mohair remaining. He also retains his original little apricot colour pipe cleaner ears and glass eyes. Little Soldier Ted is around 3.5 inches tal land his joints all work still. Little Ted will come with his soldier outfit (which is not old) – other items in photographs are for display only and are not included.
These little Farnell Soldier Bears were often given to loved ones who were leaving home to go and serve during the First World War. The Farnell Company made them with little eyes positioned towards the top of the head so that they could sit in a soldier’s breast pocket with their little eyes looking out. They were said to have given many soldiers comfort, being a reminder of their homes and loved ones.
