This appealing and totally adorable little antique Steiff teddy dates to early 1900’s. He was made without paw pads and has some of the original claws stitching.
His Steiff ear button is missing, but there is a hole to his ear and you can clearly see the button once was.
His previous owner went to a great deal of trouble to have the fabulous outfit he wears tailor-made to fit him, and I am told that the little shoes and leather belt came from the Steiff factory. They have no Steiff labels/paperwork, so I cannot verify this.
The outfit includes: lovely little jodphur type trousers, a cotton shirt and check tie, a hand knitted waistcoat and a hand knitted Christmas red scarf, a check cap – to match his tie, and his very sweet, if a bit tatty under garment. And of course the leather and gold metal belt and leather with gold detail shoes.
