This wonderful Antique French Loulou Dog Pyjama Case, Candy Container or Companion Dog dates to around 1910 or thereabouts.I believe that he is covered in rabbit fur and he has glass eyes, both ears, hand painted nose and mouth and his “claws” are all present.
He measures approximately 19.25 inches in length and around 9 inches to the top of this snout.He weighs approximately 602 grams.To his underneath there is an open cavity where either pyjamas or confectionery would be placed.His head turns and he wears a smart blue ribbon around his neck-the ribbon is probably a later addition.There may have been a zip originally to the underneath although I can find no evidence of this.Loulou Dog’s whiskers are missing and there is some wear to his front paws-both I consider minor imperfections considering that he is 110 years old!There is a small area of the top layer of his fur which is a little loose-this is very well disguised so I have photographed it (see last photo).

Loulou Dog has been very well loved and will look wonderful amongst any similar collection or on the end of a bed, sofa or chair.
