ADORABLE & EXTREMELY RARE
ANTIQUE C1920 EARLY GERMAN SCHUCO
‘YES NO’ PEKINGESE DOG

e  This adorable and rare little antique Pekingese ‘Yes No’ Dog dates from circa 1920. Made in Germany by Schuco, he is extremely difficult to source and highly collectable.
He is small enough to sit in the palm of your hand, measuring approximately 5 inches in height from his front paws to top of his head and 5 inches in length from nose to tail. He is made of mohair which retains approximately 85% coverage – the 15% loss is mostly on the back of his head and neck and above his shoulders around his neck joint . . . and caused by his (metal) internal ‘yes no’ mechanism. His mohair is very clean, retains very good even overall colour and soft muted sheen.
He is filled with wood wool which is still very firmly and evenly distributed. He has original internal wires in his front legs, and (metal) ‘yes no’ mechanism in his head, neck, body and tail. His ‘yes no’ mechanism functions correctly – when his tail is turned is head moves easily and smoothly from side to side, tilts upwards and downwards, and turns 360.He has original (stitched in) painted back amber-brown glass eyes, and retains original brown vertical stitched nose (vertical with longer downwards end stitches).
He retains complete/intact original amber-brown stitched nose (vertical with longer downwards end stitches) and mouth.
His original tiny red felt (stitched in) tongue is also intact.
He has no musty or unpleasant odours and is a very clean little dog.
Please take the time to look at the listing photos shown below before bidding, as they form an important part of the description. He has light general playwear and a little minor age related wear and tear, which is as follows:
His front paws have minor rubbing and light wear commensurate with age.
His right front leg has a professionally repaired (very small) closed split in the mohair (approximately 1 cm long) . . . this is expertly and unobtrusively done using colour matched thread, and is only visible under close scrutiny in bright light (it does not detract greatly from his beauty!)
His ‘yes no’ mechanism functions correctly, and he has no serious faults or damage, and other than the minor age related playwear described, he is basically sound and in good to very good condition. His little vintage green braid and bronze filigree dog collar was made by me (it is not original to him). . . his large bronze bell is of a recent date. His collar fastens with a hook and loop, and is easy to remove. THIS ADORABLE & RARE LITTLE ANTIQUE ‘YES NO’ DOG IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SOURCE.
HE DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY & WOULD GREATLY ENHANCE ANY COLLECTION.

Please keep in mind that 99.9% of the items I sell on eBay are old, antique or vintage, and that they were originally made for children . . . and originally belonged to children, who loved them very dearly (sometimes a little to dearly!) Some will have been handed down to generations of their original owner’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren . . . and therefore they will have varying degrees of playwear, and/or other age related flaws or issues . . .
35 years of dealing in and collecting antique juvenalia has given me a reasonably comprehensive knowledge of the items I sell – I do my upmost to describe every item accurately and describe in detail any playwear, flaws or other faults in my listings, and as also provide the highest quality, close up, clear photos of the item. My listing photographs are always taken outdoors in good light in order to show the item as accurately and clearly as possible.
Also, please remember that although the items I sell were originally children’s toys, they are now antique collecter items – they are not suitable for children, or safe for children. They do not conform with todays safety standards, and must be regarded as antique collectors items only.
