This Rare piece is a 1905 Replica, 50cm tall, Mohair Teddy Bear by Steiff from 1997. It commemorates Teddy Girl, an exceptional Bear that sold for an exceptional price. Teddy Girls story – Released in 1905 and gifted to a little boy who named her Teddy Girl, this illustrious Bear followed him from boy to man and beyond. She belonged to Colonel Bob Henderson a true arctophile, and even accompanied him during active service during WWII. In 1994 Teddy Girl went up for auction at Christies and sold for the staggering sum of 110,000 – to date, the highest amount ever paid for a Bear at Auction. To honour this spectacular Bear, Steiff decided to create a 1905 Replica. She is fully jointed with excelsior stuffing and crafted from a decadent red-brown mohair. She houses an internal tummy squeaker and has every ounce of charm gifted to her, that did her original counterpart. This much sought after Replica is a Worldwide Limited Edition of just 6,000 pieces and will come to you boxed with her numbered certificate of authenticity
