This is a cute old bear made by Gebruder Hermann imitating the Zotty bear first made by Steiff in 1951.  It is well documented in the Teddy Bear Encyclopaedia by Pauline Cockrill with an illustration on page 97, albeit of a smaller version.  The bear has shaggy mohair two-colour hair with blonde tips, wood-wool stuffed head with glass amber and black eyes.  There is a short clipped beige mohair muzzle with a vertically stitched black thread nose with two outer dropped stitches.  The inverted Y-shaped mouth is of peach coloured felt with a faded centrally placed pink airbrushed tongue.  He has downward curved arms with tear-shaped peach colour felt paws with three stitched claws on each.  His large slim feet are oval and also have three thread stitched claws.  His chest has a squeaker which no longer works properly and this is surrounded internally by wood-wool.  His arms and legs and the remainder of his body is soft-stuffed.  He is 48cm (19″) tall and is wearing a gold satin ribbon round his neck. He has a bald patch on his side under his right arm.
