Wonderful Farnell Soldier Bear circa 1915
This fab Farnell 3.5″ mascot  bear is in great condition considering its age and history. It was made by Farnell as a mascot often given to soldiers going to the Great War as love tokens from their sweethearts. This one has been protected by his knitted sweater and shorts which looks like they were made especially for him. that’s probably why he still has a great covering of mohair with little loss.  He has a piece of wire poking out of one leg. These pin jointed bears are often found with their pipe cleaner ears missing and often limbs as well. This one is complete and has glass eyes. He lives in a Craven A cigarette tin and comes with a hallmarked silver lucky horseshoe saying ‘good luck’ of the period.
Thanks for looking and good luck
