Meet Chester, a very unusual standing bear, who is 11 tall. He is in cream/beige silk plush, which was originally white as you can see it in the folds of his fur and inner ears – most of his fur remains with just a few worn areas. I think hes probably a polar bear. Hes not jointed but his arms are wired and can be moved to slightly different positions. He is very broad at the bottom, with very chunky legs which do not move. His stuffing (wood wool I think because its crunchy!) has sagged around his neck, so his head falls to one side – you can straighten him up and hell hold his head straight, but it looks rather sweet on the side. He seems to have all origina nose, mouth and claw stitching and his original amber glass eyes. Around his neck he has an old red, white and blue ribbon which looks like its original. Hes been re-stitched up the front seam at some point. I have no idea of his maker and Im guessing at him being from the 1940s because hes definitely an older bear. Im wondering if hes some kind of mascot or cartoon character as his wide legs do seem over-exaggerated. Regardless of his maker, Chester is a charming and unusual bear who is looking for a new home.Really sorry, will only post within the UK – no international postage.
