This is a lovely stuffed toy soldier which was once owned, loved and played with by my husband, who is now in his 70s. He was given it as a child in the 1940s.
He stands about 15.5 inches tall with red felt jacket, navy felt trousers and a fur fabric bearskin/busby. It looks as though he should have a belt, but that is missing. His legs move independently. He does have damage which I have tried to photograph:- there are a number of moth holes in his jacket, though the trousers look fine; there is evidence of a repair to one of the feet; he is generally rather grubby but I have not tried to clean him as I would not know what to use and I do not wish to harm him further. The plume on his hat us also grubby.
He has label sewn to his right foot saying “Farnell’s Alpha Toys made in England”
This is an interesting vintage toy suitable for collectors rather than to be played with.
Please study the photos carefully as they form an integral part of the description. Please do ask any questions before you bid as I do not wish to sell anything under false pretences. I have described him as accurately as I can, but you may wish to know more perhaps.
