This extremely rare little teddy bear features on page 158 of “The Teddy Bear Encyclopedia” by Pauline Cockrill.
She was made c. 1938 by The Chad Valley Co and was the mother of the Three Bears – mother, father and baby. They were advertised in a 1938 catalogue as “Bears’ Tea Party” and came complete with a wooden table and three chairs – telling the story of “The Three Bears”.
She is made from beige alpaca plush, has fully jointed limbs and an unjointed head. She has tiny glass eyes with brown painted backs which are sewn in with a knot at the back of her head.
Teddy has original black stitched nose and mouth, sewn onto a flattened shaved muzzle.
She has dark brown felt ears – left ear has got a tear in it. Felt foot-pads – some damage – please see photos.
Measures approximately 4″ in a sitting position.
Red printed chad valley label on back of teddy. Excellent condition for age!!
