This beautiful and very rare Steiff donkey is a bit of a puzzle because although I beleive he is almost certainly a 1930S to 1940s version of Steiff’s endearing Jung Esel design, he is hard to place.This is because he is without a button and I think ‘falls’ in design and material used, somewhere between their very early very 1907+ version and the much later 1930s design.For more information, please refer to Steiff Sortiment and also do read a really helpful blog from Steiffgal at My Steiff Life.My donkey is made from tan mohair, is unjointed and has wonderful airbrush detail. He also has longer, pink/purple mohair to his head and his mane and tail are black mohair.He stands about 24 cm in height by about 35 cm in length and has ‘bendy’ legs.Please take time to view all of the photographs and to read the item details/condition report, prior to bidding.
