These adorable twin brother teddy bears were made by Merrythought, and date to the 1940’s.
They both measure 12 inches (excluding ears), and are in a gold, and light gold colour mohair.
They both have the Hygienic Toys, Made in England labels on their feet.
The paw pads have the webbed claw stitching. Under close observation, it looks as the lighter coloured bear has had a felt hand pad renewed, as they are slightly different shapes, but if so, it’s quite a well done job.
They both have their original amber glass eyes, and nose and mouth stitching, with dropped end nose stitches.
They are kapok filled throughout, and are both in good clean condition. They have a little bit of mohair loss, but I would say that both retain 90% plus mohair coverage.
Lovely to find such a charming pair, that it would seem a shame to split them up
