I’ve had this dear little boy for a long time – he is a 9 inch vintage Steiff teddy bear from the 1950’s who we affectionately call Bumble because he is fluffy, golden and has a round tummy like a bumblebee.
He has glass eyes, firm straw stuffing to head, legs and torso, his original twisted floss stitched nose and four claws to each paw and his original felt pads are in very good condition with no repairs or re-covering.
He looks so cute in his old blue knitted trousers with mother of pearl buttons. He loves them! Underneath his trousers, he is hiding no hair loss or anything negative – he is in very good order under there, just keeping his legs warm for the winter season.
He has lost his Steiff button at some point in his life, but still has his original Steiff pink ribbon.
One or two of the photos make this funny boy look as if his head is too big for his body. Funny old Bumble. It isn’t like that at all in real life. He is just a sweet, upward gazing little character and I feel as if I ought to say, like in the Paddington Bear story, ‘Please look after this bear’…
