Stunning beauty of a huge bear, Big Ben is a 1930’s Merrythought and 27″ tall……
Sad sale as having to down size my collection. Please see all the pics as they form a very large part of my description! From a pet and smoke free home, and he has been carefully surface cleaned.
Big Ben is one of the best examples of a large Merrythought I have ever seen, so large he has a centre seam on his head. Stuffed throughout with kapok, he is light, and very cuddly. His squeaker even still works!
His left paw pad has a slightly crude repair to the felt, and his left arm was obviously the one he was carried by, as there’s a definite lack of stuffing/sagging to the top. Right paw pad has a bit damage at one corner, but his foot pads are superb, and he has all his original webbed claw stitching. There is also the obvious holes in his one foot pad from where his label would have been sewn on, and a rusty mark in his left ear where his celluloid button once was.
Due to size, I’m afraid this lovely bear can only be sent to the UK mainland. Free postage!
