This is Rory, a rare rabbit version of the “Bear on A Bike” toy which was initially designed by Pam Howells of Chiltern, to be ridden, over the next decade by various Chiltern bears and dolls, including a Ringmaster Bear, a Panda Bear, and an Elf Doll. Rory has glass eyes, a stitched nose and mouth, and unusually, he is riding three wheeled scooter rather than a bike, which is beautifully made from metal. He is original in every way, including his original red and white pull string. His plush is faded and he could do with a gentle wipe with a damp cloth to clean him up, but he smells nice and fresh. He has a Chiltern label still attached to his side, quite unusual for this design.
He is a very interesting example of a popular design , made at an important juncture during the history of bear manufacturers, when English companies were beginning to combine to fight off the growing competition from mass production overseas. He is a super little fellow and would make an amazing addition to your collection.
