Donald
Donald is an extremely rare Steiff teddy yellow measuring 40cm with button in ear along with remains of red stock tag. Only teddy yellow was made in this size between 1925 and 1928. In 1925 Richard Steiff wrote to his brother Paul from New York saying that the Steiff bears at that time were insipid and uninspiring and not at all cuddly being mainly hard stuffed. As a result Steiff responded with the teddy Rose and Yellow being made from a long silky mohair, mainly soft stuffed with kapok and a large squeaker voice.
This gorgeous teddy Yellow has some balding to his tummy where the squeaker has been pressed fading to the front there are also areas of wear to the legs. His back still retains lots of his long silky yellow mohair. His pads are mostly original with some small inserts. His squeaker still squeaks and he retains his original nose stitching and eyes.
