Here’s a fairly rare, early Steiff chimpanzee – close relative to Jocko – made of long, brown-tipped white mohair. Chimp is all original with his underscored ‘ff’ earbutton c.1928-34, and is woodwool-stuffed. He’s fully-jointed but sits with his legs folded. When fully extended he’s around 33 cms (13″) long. Chimp has back-painted amber glass eyes, and some of the enamel has worn away over the years. There’s airbushed detailing to his felt face, while his felt hands have been darned in the past with wool – mostly his fingertips. One foot has a small hole and, although he has overall thinning to his fur, which has yellowed over time, Chimp is nevertheless a champion character. He wears a handknitted dicky bow with homemade felt fez, and travels with his monkey puzzle card salvaged from a penny toy. Thanks for looking at this wonderful old primate.
TRACKED POSTAGE TO EUROPE IS 15 GBP, AND REST OF WORLD 19.50 GBP.
