Poor old ted!! I bought him to add to my collection not realising quite how far gone he was, so I’ve decided to put him back up for sale, 99p start, no BIN. Please!! Examine ALL the pics as they form a large part of the description, and below I reiterate the ‘condition’ report:

In a very fragile condition with some areas of brittle material, loss of mohair, fur comes out quite easily, one eye missing, other not fixed, ears need resewing back on properly, lining of nightdress case is totally ripped, ink stain to this and to front of ted, pads are either thinning or need total replacement. Some damage to seams and around where joint discs are. However, all joints work fairly well, and the remaining mohair is quite clean and silky.

To add to that, he’s about 22″ long, with a growler in his head that doesn’t work (if you shake him you can hear it rattling around) He’s super rare, even in this condition, as very few nightdress cases were made that were also a jointed bear like this. His nose stitching makes me think early Deans, or possibly Merrythought. He has no labels or remains of any, as far as I can see. The eye he has is glass, but comes out on it’s wire spike, not fixed in at all! Zip works fine if you are careful with it. The lining being in such a diabolical state (it was once velvet by the looks) means you can see all his card and pin jointing, and it’s very old style.

There was evidence of moths, probably long since departed, but as a precaution he has been in moth balls pretty much the entire time I’ve had him, so he does smell of these, but no other nasty odours. For what it’s worth, from a pet and smoke free home!!

Any questions please ask, but I can’t stress this enough – he needs some work!! Or to be kept very carefully as is, as he is fragile, very elderly, and a bit fed up.
