I have had this wonderful bear on wheels in my possession for around 12 years.I have never seen one of a similar age with mohair in such beautiful condition.Let me tell you what I know about this wonderful bear.I was told when I bought him that he came out of an Auction from the contents of a stately Home.He is hard stuffed with wood wool with no holes or damgage, just a little rubbing to the back of the neck as shown.His neck is jointed and he has glass eyes and original stitched nose.Nothing has been replaced on this bear, he has his original paws, they have some wear but intact.He is large 22 inches from snout to tail, and 15 inches high.He looks very much like the picture in Teddy Hall of Fame, Stratford on Avon Museum. Published in 1996.He is on a cast Iron frame.Now this is where it gets bewildering, he has underneath a hole which shows his working grunter which reads Chad Valley, was this put in after? or part of the original bear.I would have dated him 1910 not 1920 but thats my opinion ion.I want a good price for him as he is worth it, I am happy to hang on to him if he does not sell.
