RARE 1938 Empire Games Sydney Australia Athlete Medallist Koala Bear Tea Cosy Souvenir.
30 cm x 26 cm.
This belonged to my late grandmother who received this as an athlete at the 1938 Empire Games Sydney Australia. She was a silver medalist – swimming in the freestyle relay for South Africa. She held the backstroke record in South Africa for many years.
There is also a stuffed toy koala bear she received at the same empire games and I’ve listed that separately.
I hope it can find a new home.

It does have age and some wear etc – I believe it was made from kangaroo fur. It has been stored for many years in a cupboard.
The bear has a red bow attached to it by a safety pin now but I think it was originally attached. I’ll send it together with the bear.
